Gelos, France, Nov. 16, 2025 — We are pleased to announce our integration with the EU Pollinator Hub, a European platform developed as an initiative of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) to collect and harmonize data essential for pollinator health and evidence-based policies.

The EU Pollinator Hub — coordinated by BeeLife – European Beekeeping Coordination — brings together diverse data sources from across Europe to support scientific research, environmental monitoring, and policy development. BeeLife experts have played a key role in its scientific and technical design, and the platform entered a new development stage in December 2024 following the completion of an EFSA grant agreement. The Hub is now accessible to researchers, land managers, public authorities, beekeepers, and citizens.

Through this integration, participating beekeepers can voluntarily share anonymized hive data with the Hub, ensuring that real-world observations from the field contribute to Europe-wide efforts to understand and protect pollinators.

This collaboration reinforces a shared objective: transforming distributed hive data into insights that support better environmental decisions.

Key Goals of the Integration

  1. Provide meaningful, field-based data:
Devices used by thousands of beekeepers worldwide continuously collect weight, temperature, humidity, and other indicators that reflect both colony activity and environmental conditions.
  2. Support evidence-based policy:
By feeding anonymized observations into the EU Pollinator Hub, beekeepers help EFSA and European institutions base decisions on robust, real-time data from the field.
  3. Empower beekeepers:
Participation is fully voluntary and controlled by each beekeeper. A simple checkbox at the apiary level allows them to contribute to collective knowledge while gaining insights through broader comparisons.
  4. Enhance awareness and collaboration:
This integration helps strengthen Europe’s pollinator monitoring capacity through open, standardized data and increased visibility within the community.
  5. Ensure privacy and transparency:
All data sharing complies with GDPR requirements. Only anonymized monitoring data and approximate location (postal code level) are transmitted.

Statements

“This integration gives beekeepers a voice,” said Lorenzo Pons, BroodMinder Europe. “Their hive measurements can now contribute directly to the EU Pollinator Hub — linking daily beekeeping realities to the policies designed to protect them. Every hive counts.”

“Pollinators are essential for our ecosystems and food systems,” added Noa Simon, Scientific Director and Project Manager at BeeLife – European Beekeeping Coordination. “This engagement sets an example for how private actors can support collective data-sharing efforts that benefit both science and society.”

A Shared Commitment

This integration reflects a shared commitment between EFSA’s initiative, BeeLife’s coordination work, and participating beekeepers: turning distributed, real-world field data into actionable knowledge for the protection of pollinators across Europe.
